Middle East Entrepreneur Training in the United States ( MEET U.S. )

This program implements the Middle East Entrepreneur Training in the U.S. (MEET U.S.) program and includes the following activities: 1) delivery of ICT and business services seminars, 2) provision of business development training and mentoring to entrepreneurs at Centers of Entrepreneurial Excellence in Bahrain and Morocco, 3) a businesswomen's summit for more than 200 women from the region, 4) establishment of a network of businesswomen's hubs and speaker bureaus in eight countries, and 5) delivery of resource mobilization training to civil society and non-governmental organization managers from the region.

The program brings approximately 40 Middle Eastern women from the business and legal professions to the United States to participate in a month-long graduate-level law or business program followed by a five-month internship at leading U.S. legal or business institutions.

The program provides skills training, professional networking, and alumni support systems to increase the managerial and entrepreneurial leadership skills for growing companies. The program is helping promising executives, managers and entrepreneurs realize their aspirations to build successful, growing enterprises that will contribute to economic growth and community well being in the MENA region.

 

MEET U.S. consists of three types of training programs. The first is a two-week training program for senior executives from a range of industries. The second is a three-week training period for information, communication and technology (ICT) professionals. The third is a two-week training session for business services professionals. Trainees participate in two-day with local businesses.

The program develops self-sustaining organizations to help young people gain the skills required to build and succeed in their nations' economies and to become productive and participative citizens. Young people throughout the region will complete at least one of 20 programs to gain a fundamental understanding of business, economics, and entrepreneurship.

Strengthening Entrepreneurial Skills

This grant strengthens skills among entrepreneurs and business people working for small- and medium-sized enterprises in Morocco through targeted training of business managers and through direct consulting at the firm level.

 

Women's Business Development Center

This project establishes a model women's business development center (WBAC) in Tunisia and plans the establishment of a second WBAC in Algeria. The program provides business technical assistance, business training, mentoring, access to business resources, and a network of women business owners.

 

U.S.-North Africa Economic Partnership Humphrey Fellowships and Inter-University Links

This program brings accomplished, competitively selected mid-level professionals with a demonstrated commitment to public service from Tunisia to the U.S. for a year of study and professional experience in a variety of fields (including public policy analysis and administration, law and human rights, finance and banking, and educational planning). The program supports cooperation between U.S. colleges and universities and Tunisian post-secondary institutions.
