Tunisian Youth Gain Valuable Skills and a Job through Education for Employment
August 16, 2012
EFE-Tunisie celebrated the graduation of 31 young unemployed Tunisians in July from the MEPI-funded Workplace Success program. The Workplace Success program trains unemployed Tunisian youth in workplace principles and places them in jobs that match their newly acquired skills. Over the course of two weeks, EFE-Tunisie’s certified trainers guided the program participants in overarching workplace principles such as workplace ethics, communication, and self-confidence. All 31 graduates are now ready to begin jobs within Magasin Général, Tunisia’s largest chain of general stores and EFE-Tunisie’s first employer partner. EFE-Tunisie is an affiliate of the Education for Employment Foundation (EFE), an organization dedicated to linking unemployed youth with limited opportunity to jobs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Through support from MEPI and other partners, EFE has been able to train and secure jobs for thousands of unemployed youths across the MENA region. This project supports sustainable growth in Tunisia by expanding economic and employment opportunities for young people throughout the country.
