In addition to larger grants given in response to specific solicitations, MEPI provides a significant number of local grants each year directly to organizations working at the community level to advance reform. Local-grant projects promote greater freedom and opportunity for people in the region by helping local partners more quickly bring their innovative project ideas to life. These grants also are successful in expanding the role of civil society in identifying local challenges and finding the best solutions to them at the community level.
These grants usually range from $25,000 to 75,000 and generally last up to one year. Applicants, including individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGO's), should apply directly to the U.S. Embassy in their country. Applications are accepted in English, Arabic, and French.
For more information on applying and receiving funding for a local grants project, or for information please visit the websites of our Tunis and Abu Dhabi regional offices.
For information about MEPI’s various exchange opportunities for students and professionals, please contact the U.S. Embassy in your country.
