In early September, the American University in Cairo (AUC) hosted a welcome ceremony for its second round of scholarship recipients in MEPI's Tomorrow's Leaders program. Representatives from MEPI, AMIDEAST, and other participating universities were in attendance.

The Tomorrow's Leaders program, which began in 2007, gives underprivileged students from throughout the Middle East and North Africa a chance to attend one of three top universities in the region: AUC, the American University in Beirut (AUB), and the Lebanese American University (LAU). Each year, AMIDEAST recruits a new cohort of students from a different set of countries. This year, AUC, as well as LAU and AUB, welcomed participants from Bahrain, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Iraq. These students, in addition to last year's participants from Yemen, Egypt, Qatar, and the Palestinian territories, bring a strong element of diversity to each campus. While at the universities, the students participate in activities that enhance their leadership abilities, equipping them with a new set of skills as they return to their home countries following graduation. MEPI staff congratulates the next round of Tomorrow's Leaders scholars and looks forward to hearing about their experiences.
