MEPI Supports Civic Youth Engagement in Bethlehem and Jericho

On March 2, 2017 the MEPI Officer participated in a Bethlehem Town Hall Meeting which focused on education issues in the Palestinian school system. The town hall was part of a MEPI-funded grant with Arab World Democracy and Electoral Monitor (Al-Marsad) entitled “Civic Youth Engagement.” The goal of the project is for Al-Marsad to empower Palestinian youth by strengthening the capacity of youth organizations and promoting their participation in civic education and engagement.  Activities include 22 district trainings, two training of trainers (TOT) workshops for youth leaders, establishing 11 town hall meeting committees, conducting 44 town hall meetings, organizing two youth camps, and holding two annual conferences. The Bethlehem Town Hall meeting was well attended and enabled community members, CSOs and media to engage with each other and exchange ideas on education issues and recommend courses of action.
