In April 2017, for the third edition of Aventures d’Entrepreneurs, Reseau Entreprendre Tunisie (RET) conducted a survey of over 160 Tunisian women entrepreneurs to highlight the real challenges and pitfalls faced by women entrepreneurs across the country. A position paper summarizing key results and presenting relevant recommendations was developed. On May 17th, RET organized a panel at Cogite Coworking Space gathering key stakeholders from the entrepreneurial and women’s empowerment ecosystems. Fifty people, mostly female entrepreneurs, participated in the event. Panel discussions were based on the results of the survey featuring gender and social challenges and raising specific recommendations to overcome obstacles. The recommendations discussed included promoting gender parity in institutions, especially the financial ones; formalizing the social sector by creating the appropriate legal status; and creating a platform to consolidate all information related to entrepreneurship (funding programs, assistance and mentoring programs, entrepreneurship competitions, organizations, etc.). RET is finalizing the position paper to include the recommendations that came out of the panel discussion in order to socialize them with the community to improve conditions for women entrepreneurs.
